Wow! It’s been over a month since my last blog post, and I can’t recall ever in the past 3 years that happening.
It’s amazing how quickly the landscape changes and what new opportunities present themselves when you are in the “corridor” of business. It seems that almost on a daily basis, I see new opportunities that have tremendous potential.
Of course, given the fact that there’s only so much time, prioritizing and time management is the key to capitalizing on the best opportunities.
I’ve seen tremendous results in my own personal success from something I learned only about a year ago.
In the book “Good to Great”, the author, Jim Collins preaches the following …
Don’t spend your time making big plans …
Rather …
FOCUS ON RAISING THE BAR ON ALL OF YOUR RELATIONSHIPS. When that happens, the big plans take care of themselves.
To my way of thinking, the ability to build and grow successful relationships is one of the greatest KEYS to success anyone can possess.
Best of all, it’s a learnable skill. ANYONE who truly has the desire can become a MASTER at building great relationships.
All my successful clients understand that without ACTION, knowledge is only POTENTIAL power. Today, take an action that strengthens and grows a relationship important to you. Make it a daily habit. If you do, it’s only a question of time until great opportunities begin to reveal themselves to you.
Namaste.
Jeff

How true! How true! As the saying goes…”.It’s not what you know, but who you know!”… No matter how much we may think we know about something, each and every one of us needs someone to help us channel that knowledge in ways that are for our highest good. For us, YOU , Jeff, are one of those people. So Thank You for being there as our guide to a better future.
As you say, relationships are a key to long lasting success. It gives us flexibility and keeps us in the corridor of new opportunities. I see a new and forward thinking environment now. People are sharing their ideas and skills with others. Karma is a commodity. Not everything is done for a quick pay day. Rather, it’s more about bartering of good will.
“Talk is cheap” and “When all is said and done, more is said than done,” are proverbs that speak to the lack of action to which you refer. Thinking, planning, feeling, and talking are all important but are essentially meaningless without action. We behaviorists love to remind that it is far easier to behave your way into a new feeling than feel your way into a new behavior. Jeff, just continue to “do it!”
When I focus on an interest important to me a surge of energy is felt, distractions are minimalized and I become more open to growing common relationships.
What a great post, Jeff. You know what they always say. Knowledge is not converted to wisdom until that knowledge is experienced through ACTION.
We live in world governed by the laws of physics, so nothing happens until energy is expended.
Great food for thought. Thank you for sharing it.
Jeff, I think you are right about the relationship building. Look at any successful sales or business person. They don’t necessarily get there because they are he smartest or most talented. Sure that helps, but in my experience, the common denominator to great success is GREAT RELATIONSHIPS.
Good insight as usual Jeff.
Agreed, Jeff. I’m not sure there has to be a choice between planning and relationship building, though! I’m a big advocate of strategic thinking in business, because I see too many clients suffer from the lack of a good plan. Where I do agree is that given a choice, relationships must come first.
It’s interesting that you bring this up……. I’m having such a hard time managing my time right now. With so many things to focus, it becomes overwhelming, and I often find myself doing nothing because of that.
I’ve never heard of this approach. I’m definitely open to anything at this point and will definitely give this a whirl.
Thanks for sharing!
Jeff
